A WORLDWIDE RADIO INITIATIVE
"MUSIC FOR HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY"
The idea of this initiative is to express solidarity with the Jewish people and together with the national broadcasters of Israel, Lithuania, and many other countries, including classical and world music radio stations to jointly broadcast truly unique music that was created last year on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust.
The “Symphony from Jerusalem of the North” is one of a kind musical project and was created by the most promising composer of the younger generation in Lithuania, Jievaras Jasinskis, and the author of the idea, Tadas Daujotas, who plays ancient Hebrew shofar instruments.
The premiere took place on 23 September 2021, on the occasion of the Lithuanian Jewish Genocide Day, in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania. |
The hour-long musical journey is performed by the Vilnius City Municipality's St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra and extra classical, jazz, and folk musicians from Lithuania and Israel. The album was recorded by Vilius Keras, a Grammy-nominated sound producer who has been nominated for several Grammy Awards for his classical recordings. The Live Broadcast of the concert and studio album recording are available below:
We hope you liked what you just heard and would like to join us in this solidarity. Therefore, depending on your station's grid and its availability, you can choose to broadcast either the whole one-hour-long piece or a few parts only. This is entirely up to you to decide; however, the most important thing is to broadcast during those days i.e. during the day or late at night as well as to share brief information about the Holocaust Remembrance Day and the number of radio stations worldwide participating in this international campaign. This information will be emailed to you a few days prior to the broadcast.
Please fill in the registration form and once we receive your details, we will send to your email the wav files of “Symphony from Jerusalem of the North”.
